In my opinion this is the best album they have released since "1977" and quite possibly even better. Every single track is an absolute blinder. Talk about a huge return to form. Classic Ash.
Go and buy one of the best albums of the year so far. Enjoy.

This Album was instant but not in the soon to be dull way that you get with some albums. Awesome tracks, great guitar licks and the Dance like throb of "You can't have it all" is superb! Great songs include YCHIA (of course) Polaris, twilight of the innocents, princess Six and end of the world. Not to be missed, Ash ALWAYS produce top tunes and its just a shame they have decided to go with the fact reviwers call them "A great singles bands" and just produce digital singles. I love albums I think its important that good bands make them and ASH always deliver on album tracks as well as singles so why not just keep making them? Anyway whatever they decide to do we've had five brilliant albuns from them so its all good!

from 1977 to nu clear sounds ,free all angels and then their masterpiece meltdown i was expecting so much from this new release but i have to say i was sadly disapointed only the single you cant have it all rocks my boat.im guessing theyre missing that second guitar ? and the extra something that she gave the band
shame

I love this album. It's in a totally different league to many of the bands around today and ash have now proven their longevity. My favourite tracks are End of the World and princess six, however the most amazing track I've heard this year has to be twilight of the innocents. It's awesome. Buy this album now you will not be disappointed.

Well, I've been an ash fan since I was very voung. To me '1977' will probably always be there best, but that may just be sentimental. 'Nuclear Sounds' was great too in my opinion, tho in nobody elses. 'Free All Angels' was a brilliant instant pop album, and 'Meltdown' was a great idea for an album, but with pretty average song. It amazes me that some people actually think thats their best. what planet are they on!
In a way this album kinda reminds of 'Road To Rouen' by Supergrass, not just coz it's their 5th, but coz there aren't really any cheap poppy hooks. All the melodies are strongly built and take a while to sink in, and the lyrics are pretty direct and very passionate. I think they've basically taken all the Ash elements that work well, and taken them all over the place. my personal favs:
I Started a Fire - amazing song. That simple chord change makes it so icy, and really fits well with what the song is about
Blacklisted - sounds a bit like the pixies! seems to breathe new life into the classic Ash sound
Palace Of Excess - manic, poppy brilliant hook. half serious/half crazy fun sound.
well, sod it. they're all great! but some songs like 'End of the World' (which i didn't like at all at first) took me a while to get my head around.
I think this is a an epic, colourful, powerful, pop album, which has fully satisfied Ash fans like me, but will probably do little for people expecting another Free All Angels.
Basically, it's a grower.
