iAmp: Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question about the iAmp iPhone app? First read our FAQs below, and if that doesn't answer it,
send us an email and we'll get back to you.
Where can I use the iAmp?
The iAmp is designed for use in the UK, and will work anywhere with an available Wi-Fi, 3G or GPRS connection. If you can’t hear us, please check your phone’s connection. IMPORTANT! Please read the next FAQ for info on data charges before using the app.
Will it cost me anything?
The iAmp is a free download from the
iTunes App Store, but you should always check your plan’s data usage terms before using the app. If you have an unlimited data plan, such as O2’s Pay-Monthly iPhone Tariffs, you should not be charged for using the iAmp. We DO NOT recommend you use the iAmp unless you have an unlimited data plan. You should also check what your plan says about overseas data usage if you planning on using the app while abroad.
Where’s the volume control?
The iAmp uses the device’s built in volume, which can be adjusted via the rocker volume control on the side of the device. If you have a 1st generation iPod Touch (which does not have these controls), use the on-screen volume control by double-tapping the home button while in the app.
Why doesn’t the app run in the background?
This is a limitation of Apple’s software. Only some of Apple’s own apps (like the music player) can run in the background.
What OS version do I need?
We recommend you have the latest version of the operating system on your device. The iAmp requires version 2.2 or above, and should work fine when Apple release OS 3.0 in summer 2009.
Will you be adding any more features to the iAmp?
The iAmp is designed to be easy-to-use and fast-to-load, so we’ve kept it quite simple. There are improvements and additions planned for later versions, but at its heart, the iAmp will always be a radio player for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Feel free to send us your
feature suggestions.
What about other mobile phones based on BlackBerry, Android or Nokia platforms?
We have now launched
iAmp for Android. And you can also get our new Absolute Radio Player in the
Nokia Ovi Store and on
BlackBerry App World. We'll be continuing to develop for all mobile platforms, and the best way to keep up with the latest releases is to become an
Absolute Radio VIP and receive our newsletter.
