Absolute Radio presents...
Feeder in The Absolute Radio Sessions
The fifth band in session in 2011 was
Feeder. The exclusive gig took place in April at Hard Rock Manchester.
We gave one of our listeners the chance to be our Hard Rock VIP at the recent Feeder gig, and here’s the review of what Mark Screwtop thought of the event:
On a blistering summer evening we walked into the memorabilia ridden Hard Rock Café, Manchester. We were there early but already there was a buzz around the place and given the amount of equipment on stage we knew Absolute Radio had organised something very special. At half eight Feeder burst onto the stage starting the set with a couple of classics, Insomnia being the first, and the roar of the small crowd was deafening.
Rocking through the 10 song set Feeder had the audience enthralled. I’ve never seen such an energetic performance of Lost & Found and I positively felt sorry for the drum kit as the new drummer Karl Brazil beat the living daylights out of it! During the set Feeder threw in a couple of songs off their new album including the title track Renegades and new single Call Out, which are obviously going to be classics in their own right.
Grant then reluctantly introduces the next song, dedicating it to all the pop fans in the audience. The whole audience knows what's coming and, although it seems to signify the ending of a perfect set, everyone is in the palm of Grant's hand waiting for the distinctive guitar intro. Grant toys with the audience by playing the intro to Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, he turns, smirks at us and then starts the introduction to Buck Rogers and the whole audience screams and jumps in unison.
Happily there is time for just one more and, after finishing the set with the amazingly catchy Just A Day, Feeder leave the stage to a shattered but exuberant Hard Rock Café. It has to be said... Absolute Radio Sessions ROCK!
