Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs)
Club history

Tottenham started out in 1882, adopting the name "Tottenham Hotspur" after the club was formed by boys from Hotspur cricket club. Spurs have spent the majority of their history in the top flight of English football, and in 1961 became the first club to win the League and FA Cup "double" in the twentieth century.
Two years later, Tottenham became the first British side to lift the European Cup Winners Cup and can boast, along with Manchester United, of winning silverware in each of the last six decades.
The club has a long standing rivalry with north London neighbours Arsenal, their debut encounter taking place in 1887, when The Gunners were known as Royal Arsenal.
On 14 April 2010, Tottenham beat Arsenal at White Hart Lane for the first time in over a decade, thanks to goals from Gareth Bale and Danny Rose, who made his club debut that day and earned him instant praise from the manger, squad and the fans.
Under current boss Harry Redknapp, the side reached the Champions League for the first time in their history after finishing the 2009/10 season in fourth position with a 1-0 win against Manchester City on their home turf.
