Manchester City (The Citizens, The Blues, City)
Club history

Manchester City FC started out as St. Marks back in 1880, and a few years later they became known as Ardwick AFC, before changing their name to what it is today in 1894.
The Blues' biggest success to date was back in the late '60s and early '70s when they won the FA Cup, European Cup Winners Cup, the League title, and the League Cup under manager Joe Mercer. The last time they lifted the latter piece of silverware was in 1973, but since then City have failed to win any major trophies. Despite being relegated on a number of occasions, and twice in three years during the '90s, The Blues have spent most of their history in the top flight.
City have also seen many managers come and go over the years, including seven during the '80s. Their first overseas boss was former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson who joined in July 2007, but sacked after a year following a poor run of form. He was replaced by Mark Hughes, who brought in the likes of Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry before he was released eighteen months later, when Italian Roberto Mancini took over.
