Man Utd make quick return to capital against Fulham
By Julian Shea.
Kick off Wednesday 21 December 2011 at 20:00, Craven Cottage.
Two goals in as many minutes may have ensured Fulham victory over Bolton last Saturday, but they are unlikely to find the Manchester United defence quite so accomodating on Wednesday night, even if it is injury-depleted.One man who will be looking to cash in on any opportunities let slip by the champions is striker Bobby Zamora, who returns to the squad after missing the 2-0 win over Bolton.
Aaron Hughes is also back in contention but midfield duo Steve Sidwell (hernia) and Simon Davies (back) definitely miss out.
David Stockdale continues in goal, having kept a clean sheet on his return from loan at Ipswich last Saturday, as he fills the gap left by Mark Schwarzer's absence of up to six weeks with a spinal injury.
Manchester United could be forgiven for feelings of deja vu as they find themselves in West London again, having played - and won 2-0 - just down the road at QPR last Sunday.
They have failed to win in their last three visits to Craven Cottage, but the possible inclusion of Javier Hernandez after a quicker than expected recovery from injury increases their chances of ending that run.
Defender Rafael is back in training but like his twin Fabio, Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Michael Owen, Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher, is unavailable for this game.
