Chrstian had discovered that Richie's brother and his band were off on a US tour (of pubs) and was using Absolute Radio as quotes on their flyers. He got him on the show to "correct him". However it turns out little Dexter Firth's crew "The British Band" are actually quite good. Have a listen to their stuff here.

Absolute Coldplay

You might have heard us say a few weeks ago that we won a Gold Award at this years Sony Radio Awards. Well, this weekend you get the chance to hear the documentary once more that got us the gong. See if you think it was worth it!!

Absolute Coldplay is repeated this Sunday evening at 7.30pm followed by the entire concert from Munich at 8.30pm that the documentary was made about. Follow Christian, Brian and VBH as they fly on the bands plane to Munich with two listeners.

It's Chris performing Fix You at Sound Relief which was staged at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It was to raise money for the families affected by the bush fires. It's brilliant!

We've decided that we've ignored and neglected those of you who can't listen to our show live for far too long now.

God knows how but this morning we got onto the subject of which carry on actors would play which characters if they made a Carry on Film about the government. Here's what we've got so far. More suggestions welcome.

Kenneth Williams as the Prime Minister, obsessed with plotters and naysayers. "Infamy, Infamy, they've all got it infamy!"

Sid James as his gaffe prone John Prescott style Deputy PM. Not so much Quantitive Easing, more Quantitive Sleazing.

Charles Hawtrey as the Chancellor. I imagine a fact finding trip to the Treasury printing press. would end with his glasses going skew whiff of his face and his lovely white shirt covered in ink.

Bernard Breslaw as the hapless home secretary, trying to quell riots simply by going "Aw Blaady 'Ell!!" and gurning at the protesters.

Sneaky old Frankie Howerd as the leader of the Opposition. "Titter ye not, I'm trying to ask the Prime Minister a question"

And the ever youthful Barbara Windsor as Sid James' secretary. I imagine there woould be some sort of scene where her bra flies off into the face of the Home secretary while Sid yuk yuks himself stupid.
