Dear Diary,
(My) Homemade cookies eaten: At least a dozen.
Christian wanted to know what you’d give to the Chilean miners? Well I’ve got thirty pairs of shoes going – what better satisfaction can a woman have if not a clear out of her wardrobe and knickers drawer? See, I couldn’t finish with the shoes, the knickers and socks had to have it too. I feel cleansed. And then I went and made chocolate chip cookies for the boys. Domestic Goddess? Yes, I am.
You can hear me doing the Song Title Game with Justin Timberlake on today’s podcast. He called me “baby”!! Well, not really but it sounds like that. Here we are in his (the film company’s) suite at a fancy hotel in London – cute couple, huh? (It is him although he looks like he's wearing comedy glasses!)

Funnyman Mark Watson came in to chat about his new sports panel show Mark Watson Kicks Off on ITV4. Him and OC got a bit geeky talking about iTunes libraries but it was very funny. Hear it all on the podcast.

Dear Diary,

Poor Richie overspent on his girlfriend’s birthday gifts – a Morph and Chas bookends set he got in an “antique” shop. I’m sure if something’s antique, it has to be more than 20 years old!
After a game of French Boules, we trooped out to the square with our four finalists to see who would win the lovely brand new Renault Megane. Chaos reined again though – none of the key cards worked first time around! After a nail-biting wait and another round, Little Jason won the car! I’m delighted for him; he hasn’t had a car in 18 years and can now drive to see his girlfriend at weekends! We’re in the business of happiness folks!

Jim Proudfoot’s got his work cut out for him this weekend, he’s got five different videos to commentate on – one of them being THAT scene in When Harry Met Sally! Brilliant! He’s a good laugh, is our Jimbo.

I know you’ve all been waiting to hear me with Justin Timberlake doing the Song Title Game but Christian didn’t want to play it today. That’s not true, we actually ran out of time! You’ll have to wait another two days I’m afraid but it will be worth it!

For the record I am not bringing my Aunty Mary with me to interview Justin Timberlake later. No way! There is only one Doyle getting six minutes in a swanky hotel room and that, my friends, is me.

I think Richie has thrown down the gauntlet for celebrity interviews though so I suppose I should be nervous! The song title game he recorded yesterday with Jeremy Clarkson and James May from Top Gear was hilarious. Our dear little Captain Chaos actually managed to get them to like it! I hope JT likes my version of it. I’ll just have to turn on the Irish charm for him.

There were so many of you wanting to hear David Tennant, girls in what seemed like every state of America staying up well passed their bedtime to hear his lovely Scottish lilt. I want him to come back on the show and present again with Christian, he’s fun! And he noticed my hair! Points for DT. Here he is with OC – both of them posing.

Dear Diary,

Chocolate Hob Nobs taken from a man with man-flu like symptoms (but not really man-flu) TWO.

Ok, so, I’ll put my hands up and say yes, I did something wrong with the podcast on Friday so that Christian ended up sounding like Jeremy Clarkson. But I didn’t mean it, really I didn’t so I am sorry and I hope you can forgive me. It’s kind of funny though… so have a listen if you want a laugh. But it will take you a lot longer than normal because it’s unintentionally slowed down. Whoopsy Daisy! I can promise today’s is much, much better. (Really it is) And you can get it here.

Gutted I didn’t beat OC in my first foray into the genius that is Classic Rock Guess Who? How could Caroline not get “It’s not Spring 1970, go back a year” as “Summer of ‘69” within, like two seconds? Gutted. But, he’s promised me I get another shot tomorrow! We’ll see.

Very funny to hear about your shabby rewards for good things you’ve done – like that poor fella who just got two apples for staying late to fix someone’s car! Two apples? Rubbish!

OC wanted to know what the first text on your phone was this morning – mine is always from Richie telling me he’s outside my flat. Not in a weird way of course, just because he has to alert me to the taxi’s presence. I like to keep him waiting… just because patience is a virtue.

The very dashing David Morrissey came in for a chat today about his new Sky One Drama Thorne – he really is lovely! You can hear the full interview on the podcast.
Mostly the talk was about this little lady: Wonder Woman – Christian has got an obsession he’s taken with him through life from his teenage years. Your homework is Wonder Woman related; check it out on Facebook and Twitter.

What a strange conversation we had about wonderpants for men! Christian and Richie wanted to know if they walked down the street wearing an … er.. enhancing pair of pants, would ladies stop and look?

Dear Diary,
It was hilarious listening to Christian co-host his Hospital radio show, that Betty could give me a run for my money telling him off! Maybe I’ll invite her in…
Wildcats or wildcards? Richie didn’t really know what the hell he was talking about – there’s going to be a surprise this weekend in XFactor. Richie’s got this idea about a new mentor-less group but he couldn’t decide what to call them… wildcards or cats?
Today I have to track down a lion poo expert. Do you think that’s going to be easy? Initial thoughts are no. If you missed the reason behind my task today, listen to the podcast – Bailey’s got some unwanted moggy’s in his garden and with Baby Bailey on the way, he wants to get rid of them!
Christian gave away a trip to France thanks to Renault Mégane and you could win one too, this week until Thursday, then Friday you could win a new motor! How’s about that then? The only problem is we have to listen to Richie tell French jokes for the next few days…and his accent is only going to get weirder.

Fleetstock Friday
Wow! What an amazing show that was. All of us and KT Tunstall live in Tanya's living room!
My highlights, obviously the cake calamity when Richie brought Tanya's homemade birthday cake in for Bailey's Brithday and crashed onto the coffee table, taking out one of the lovely neighbours! Martyn's working on getting the video up online as soon as possible. It is hilarious.

The sausage sandwiches at 6:30 were a blessing and amazing and I want them everyday. I have asked Tanya if she'll be in everyday next week to cook for us... I dont think she will but it was worth trying.

I made a new friend here in Fleet, Cheeky the dog! He is the cutest doggie ever and I am now going to start lobbying Richie and Christian for us to get a show puppy. How cool would that be?

After the giddiness of Fleet, next week it doesn't stop, we have a car to give away AND friend of show Mr David Tennant comes back to chat to Christian.

Chocolate HobNobs bought for team: One Packet

I had some breaking news for Christian; 5,000 minks are on the loose in Ireland! Can you imagine the little fella’s running all over causing havoc with their lovely furry coats? Richie set himself up for a fall with the whole “you can quote me on this…” factoid that minks are “pound for pound” the most ferocious animals on earth. Eh, ok, Captain Chaos! Nothing like a bit of animal facts to get us all going.

I think “Richie on the Job” could be a new for the show. I hope The OC goes for it. Lots of you called in this morning offering our Executive Producer a chance to work with you for a day – although Mr Greggs delivery driver, I don’t think you thought that one through now did you?

Christian pushed Martyn headlong into a call-centre meltdown when you all started calling in too early for the Sky 3D TV competition. Is It NOW? You shouted again and again! See the little behind the scenes video we did on our facebook page – it’s hilarious. And here is the Ginger Prince melting down.

Christian spent an hour researching how to beat us in a game of ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ and although he did manage to whoop Richie’s ass no way did he beat me. One draw and one win each spells DRAW to me.

Tomorrow we are in Fleet with a very excited Tanya and family. Richie will be in a hot-tub, Bailey will be in the bog, and I will be … who know’s where?

Talk about a sharp start to the morning! We started off with a brain melting maths problem. To do with getting to the moon. I think that bin juice invaded Christian’s senses yesterday – why else would he lead us on such a crusade at six in the morning?
It was an unofficial half day Wednesday for one member of the team. Arguably the most important member of the team, our Executive Producer. Richie decided he had to take himself off to meet the removal men who are moving him today. At the time of publication of this blog, the removal men still hadn't arrived at Stratfield Turdon. He is a shabby man. You can see the video of him being kicked out of the studio by Christian on our Facebook page.
Boltonian Paddy McGuinness was our special guest today, what a funny guy! I love his accent. I am reading this out loud as I type as I talk Boltonian here at my desk. Warbutons! He's promised to come back and do some real DJ'ing with Christian. Yay!

It was really weird after the show because those ITV cameras were back for more filming so we had to pretend we were still on air. Me and Christian started to record the podcast intro to make it look as real as possible but were rudely interrupted by the camera crew! If you listen to the podcast you can hear Christian in "TV" mode answering some questions about how wonderful it is to work in radio. 'Tis very funny. A right old laugh!
Love you all. I just had a massive bar of chocolate. Sorry too much information.

Monday started off pretty normally but rapidly descended into chaos when we had to put our heads together with a seriously big Maths question - all because I wanted to know if you could fit a million dumplings in the studio? no is the answer, and thank God for that! Can you imagine having to make our way through a million of those little fella's?
From Maths to etymology when Christian asked Richie to find out where the term "Gordon Bennett!!" comes from. There were many suggestions but Richie was right - its basically a soft version of saying "Oh God!". We like to educate here folks.

Christian gave away an unbelievable prize - a 47 inch 3D TV thanks to Sky. Don't worry, it wasn't a one-off, there is one to give away every day this week! And we're off to Fleet on Friday to Tanya and her family to be "3D" in her house doing the show. I hope she makes a good cup of tea.. and has a few nice biccies to go with it!
Tomorrow OC's not here so Ben's keeping his seat warm. Can we get up to mischief while the cat's away? We may have to ... watch this space!

Dear Diary,
Mancakes eaten in total this week: too many dear diary too many!!
Another girl in the studio is so cool, I love having Lisa Faulkner around! I wish she’d come in every Friday. Maybe she won’t though after “ketchup-gate”. She kindly gave Christian her homemade ketchup the last time she was here but he pawned it off to me… which of course I was delighted about! Its not every day you can open your fridge and say “that’s made by the Masterchef winner”! Anyway, OC was very embarrassed when she discovered he gave it away. Ha! That’s what he gets for calling me WereLady in the week. Revenge, my friend, is best served with ketchup!
Lisa wasn’t just here for my sisterhood requirements though, she was of course judging Manbake 2010 – The Final! It was tough, there were tears, but there was only winner and here he is with his incredible Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cake, student Luke!

Christian chose Tanya with her hot tub as the lucky listener who gets us in her living room next Friday with Sky 3D. We are all very excited about heading down the M3 to Fleet! Watch out, the Breakfast Team’s coming! And Richie’s bringing his mankini for the hot tub!
Also next week, OC’s working on the bins for this TV show he’s recording. I’ve already told him to have a good shower before coming in to the studio if he’s going to be rolling around in garbage all day! And we’ve got a chance for you to come to the cinema with us, to see a special screening of Back to the Future.

Celebrity Mancakes eaten: One
Celebrity Brown Bread mini cake eaten: One

The Celebrity Manbake bake-off was hilarious. Actor and husband to Lisa Faulkner Chris Coghill went up against rugby legend Will Carling. It descended into the worst type of man-fight ever! I really did think Chris’s strawberry cake was by far better than the “mini bread cakes” Will told us were muffins! Yeah right, muffins!

Well tomorrow it’s the Manbake final so we’ve got Philip, Ryan and Luke back with their signature mancakes for Lisa Faulkner to judge! Who will win the coveted title Manbaker 2010 winner and shabby trophy that goes along with it?

The lovely people from bootcamp GI Jane came in with Kim from our Flab Four before she goes off for a gruelling week of working out and losing weight. Naturally, Christian thought Richie should get some exercise so the very hunky (!) ex-marine Mark shouted him around the square and up and down on a bouncy ball. Check out the very funny video!

Christian’s off filming for the day for his ITV thing – he’s got to go back and do his first job; selling adverts for Practical Boatowners so Richie and him had a little roleplay with “Jack Bilge” who sells Bilge pumps. Want to hear that again? Get it on the podcast.

It was a very strange start to the day today with a TV crew in the studio filming every move for Christian’s return to work programme he’s doing for ITV. Me, Richie and Bails were interviewed but we didn’t give away anything. Nothing. Or did we?? You’ll have to wait and see it when it comes out.
Christian’s old boss Karl Pilkington came in for a chat about his tour of the wonders of the world – he’s a funny one, isn’t he? We were all laughing out loud at his advice to not go to the Great Wall of China because it was built in 1985! Here he is with OC:

Today’s Manbake cakes were pretty incredible! A Chocolate Guinness cake from Matt couldn’t beat Luke’s Peanut Butter Chocolate one that Christian’s decided to rename Ganache. Just Ganache. So Luke’s up against Philip’s Coffee Cake and Ryan’s Man Loaf on Friday. We can’t wait for Lisa Faulkner to come in judge who should be Manbaker of the Year 2010! And tomorrow, there are some late entry celebs trying to muscle their way in to Manbake. And I might have a chance to shine with my singing – and this time that snivelling smiling assassin Richie will not stitch me up! We’re both re-recording the theme tune. It should be an interesting competition.
Richie read out the names of the 20 animals allowed into the Johnny Morris Retirement Home but OC made him change the list so the dogs from Magnum PI - Apollo and Zeus – could get in. He is a cheater!

Dear diary,

If this was Bridget Jones style, I’d be telling you how much chocolate I’ve eaten, how little exercise I’ve done and how many glasses of wine I haven’t drunk. However as it is simply a look back over four hours in Christian O’Connell’s fun factory, I’ll be telling you instead about the retirement home created for showbiz animals and ladies using men’s razors. Will this ever get published and made into a Hollywood Blockbuster? I think not.

What’s the problem with me using the other half’s razor? The way the boys go on about it, you’d think it’s actually a crime but when you think about it, it makes life nicer and better for men if women have smooth legs? Or is that just ridiculous? Yes, it probably is. Still I’ll keep on using himself’s razor until I blunt it. Unfortunately the razor chat led to something I hope Christian is regretting. It’s not everyday I get accused of having a beard. Most women would be horrified by this but I know I work in a loving, caring environment where my co-workers do this, ultimately, out of … scrap that... OC is dead if he continues with the “WereLady” taunts tomorrow.

Talk of an arty chimp led Christian to set up a place for talented animals who can live the rest of their lives out by entertaining us, the gullible public. It’s called the Johnny Morris Retirement Home for Showbiz Animals. But of course the list went on and on and on and took up all of Richie’s whiteboard:

Apparently a massive burst of energy from the Sun could destroy all the electrical equipment in the world in a few years. But, dear reader, don’t worry about the show getting bogged down in the scientific issues. The most important thing to come out of this was Richie declaring, loudly into his microphone: “I am a deep impact man”. The Secret Diary of Maggie Doyle: 20/09/10

Dear Diary,
I'm calling today Frisky Monday. What else could I call it with talk of Viagra, puking, drunken promises, voicing porn movies and Richie’s pant curiosity?

For starters, I did not have a boozy weekend and did not have a hangover. I did have a lovely slumber party with the girls and apart from eating my own body weight in Chinese takeaway did not otherwise overdo it.

Anyway, it was the first day of the Manbake semi-finals and we had Scott and Phillip in the studio with their carrot and coffee cakes. Poor Scott with his iced carrot cake and raisins – it’s true you know what I said about raisins – they’re just unnecessary in everything except fruit cake. I think Christian agreed because he gave Scott six out of ten while Phillip’s award winning coffee cake was perfect – literally. I had to give him ten out of ten. Two more men are due in tomorrow with their cakes and Lisa Faulkner will join Christian on Friday to crown the ultimate Manbaker! We’re doing it all for a good cause Macmillan Cancer Support and their Worlds Biggest Coffee morning on Friday so if you haven’t started, get baking! Here's Philip, OC and the coffee cake and some weirdo wielding a massive knife behind him.

I’m not sure it’s a good idea that the OC takes up skiing, I think there will be trouble and you remember what he was like with his teeth? Can you imagine what a broken limb would do? I think render him pretty useless and where would be without our fearless (shabby) leader? Kids, this is what happens when alcohol is involved. Never make drunken promises.

Richie’s daughter puked up all over the VW Jetta on Saturday so Christian was on a mission to find the best vomit odour eater out there. Apparently coffee beans will do the trick or something called a “lemon bomb”.

In other Richie news, he was accused of being Pant Curious. Need I say more about that? Or should I just let you listen to the podcast?
Eins Zwei Drei Vier! Ootsa Ootsa ootsa - is it the last we’ve heard of the Pope? Part of me hopes it is but yet, I feel our show will miss him and his crazy out of breath dancing to techno music.

It’s now a few hours after the show and I don’t think I can recall how Viagra or indeed voicing over Porn movies came up so I’ll let you listen to that goodness on the podcast, dear reader. Pod It!

Friday 20th August: Take Daughter To Work

That’s right Christian’s six year old Ruby came into the studio today for the whole show. She helped Maggie with the travel and very quickly sorted out both Richie and her Dad!

We spoke to the lovely Lisa Faulkner who is on Celebrity Masterchef; it’s the final tonight but not even a six-year old could get the truth out about who’s won this series.

Poor Jim Proudfoot has got to get “Have you ever been to a Harvester before?” into his Premier League Commentary here on Absolute Radio tomorrow afternoon – he did it last week with “unleash the flying monkeys” so tune in to see if he does us proud once again.

Thursday 19th August: Massage Offers and Fruit Stealing!

Christian gave away the last of the V Festival tickets, the very, very last ones to a woman called Adele who called in for OC’s Swap Shop with massage lessons for Richie. The rumour is OC's looking forward to Richie's man hands on his shoulders every morning. Oohhh Madam!

Sorry if you haven't got tickets for this year's V but, hey! You can listen to it from the comfort of your kitchen, living room, car, shed whatever because Absolute Radio will be live from V Festival this weekend!

This week's round of I'm A Movie resulted in no change at the top; Christian's still leading with Bailey hot on his heels. Richie managed to get two but he is still trailing in last place.

Christian had to get a copper on the line to sort out once and for all if picking blackberries off a bush is illegal. Richie and Martyn were convinced it was.. but the 'Old Bill say no; as long as you are consuming said berries yourself. There you go - we even provide legal advice.. well not really.

Tomorrow, we meet the last Flab Four contender who’s going to help Richie in his “belly-off” campaign. And there’ll be another chance to win a Netbook with Virgin Media.

Tuesday 3rd August: Too Much Information

Richie's going to be a football manager! At least he's going to try with Boyne Hill FC, soon to be possibly called something else that might be a bit more inspiring. Will he get them out of the dark hole of last season's 18-0 defeat? Only time, dear blog-reader will tell.

Our poor newsman Andrew "there's no easy way to say this" Bailey told Christian about his ... er, lets just say, 'popping out problem' at his osteopath appointment. The team, particularly Maggie, squirmed! Uncomfortable to hear it was, embarassing for Bailey it seemed not as he shared his private (s) story with the nation!

Men crying over movies; yes, it happens and there's a list of the top twenty so Christian wanted to know what you blokes blub over. Mr OC himself admitted to sobbing over Rocky, Bailey over The Champ but poor Dean who called up was dished some dirt for crying over husky dogs!

Thursday 15th July: Last Show for a while..

Tired Pony, new supergroup with Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody and Peter Buck from REM did an amazing live session for us yesterday and afterwards, Richie put poor Peter through his incredibly bad Song Title Game. It was hideous. Listen to it again on today’s podcast.

After watching the new Soda Stream advert with his daughter, Christian wanted to know what was it your mates had when you were younger that meant they had money: front loading video recorders anyone or automatic cars?

Richie put the contents of his pocket down on beating Christian in today’s Absolute Classic Guess Who? Don’t worry folks, he didn’t break the bank, it was only £2.06! Christian beat him with a quirk of the rules and here’s Richie sadly handing over the windfall to OC:

And we had another I’m A Movie – Christian now shares the lead with soon-to-be-Dad Bailey; they’re on 13 points each!

Christian’s off to his privately owned island, sorry, no it’s Menorca with the kids for a couple of weeks so we are back the first week of August and we are bringing something very special back… something we thought we’d never see again! On that note we leave you, stay safe blog-lovers!

Wednesday 14th July – Moths and Shops

After a trip to his local chip shop which hasn’t changed in years, Christian wanted to know what protected shops you would want to keep. Local cobblers, local newspaper offices and the traditional barbers were some of yours!

Richie was surprised and a bit annoyed to be chastised for killing a moth in cold blood with a fly swat – all while wearing his underpants.

He soon got over it when he heard about the good odds he’ll get from William Hill betting for his 4 year old son to get an England cap for playing cricket.

Tuesday 13th July: Crazy Grandparents and Live Aid’s Midge

We did a bit of “Phone Poker” for Latitude Festival tickets for the best crazy Nan and Grandad stories! Kellie-Anne won with her great story of her Granddad blowing up MoD ammunitions while hunting moles in the countryside!

It’s 25 years ago today the incredible Live Aid concert blew the world away with the biggest global TV event. There’s a very special documentary on Absolute Radio tonight at 10pm or you can have it on demand and download it to listen to in your time. Christian spoke to Midge Ure about his memories of the day; which include still being annoyed at Bod Geldof for getting his band, Ultravox, bumped down the playlist so the Boomtown Rats could play for the Royal Family.

Christian gave away another great loads of goodies iPad, iPhone4, HDTV, digital camera all thanks to the #Three Network with Richie’s “What’s That Tune” competition that went surprisingly well. It was our big final today in our Kids TV Show Theme Tune World Cup. A tough race to the finish line left us Thunderbirds and Dangermouse; so how best to judge the final? Only Richie of course doing an "Around the country vote". Chaotic is was, slick it was not. Listen again to the podcast for the full car crash.

Friday 9th July – Dolph Lundgren and Paul the Octopus

We played out the Dolph Lundgren interview. The mega man came into the studio yesterday and wow! What a cool guy, he is massive! He was talking to Christian about his new Sylvester Stallone-produced movie The Expendables and did a little game with our very own hard man Security Guard Martin. Here is Christian thinking he can take Dolph.

Incredibly we were able to cross live to Germany to Paul the Octopus - who's been correctly predicting the outcome of the World Cup matches. He “spoke” to the studio live from his tank and told us some good tentacle-themed jokes. Mysteriously Richie had disappeared just before the studio line rang and came back just as Paul hung up…

Thursday 8th July – Lydon, Skinner and Oxford University

A smattering of intellect, an aging punk rocker and an Octopus: these dear blog readers were the themes of today’s show. (Roughly.)

Christian’s chat with Frank Skinner was another barrel of laughs, until Christian told Frank they might be getting together on the bosses request next week to have a face to face interview.. Frank wondered if it might be in a “Frost/Nixon” style. The great news is the Baddiel and Skinner special World Cup Podcasts have hit the 2 million downloads mark! Frank was well chuffed.

We heard from Oxford University – an Etymologist no less (Tania) who left Christian a message giving us the origin of the term “Going Dutch”. It was actually German settlers in America not buying a round at the bar, not half doors, or tight sailors or whatever else the team came up with. So there! That’s sorted. We think.

John Lydon’s interview was very funny; he really is an entertaining guy with lots of mad ideas but all convincing! Everything turned for the worse though when Richie made John very uncomfortable with the “Song Title Game”.

Should Paul the all-seeing Octopus be rescued from Germany and brought back to his natural home in Weymouth? A crackpot scheme that only Christian and Richie could discuss with any sincerity.

Wednesday 7th July – We’ve gone Dutch!

After Holland’s win last night in the World Cup we all went a bit dutch. Maggie, Bailey, Richie, and three callers all had their own ideas about where the term “Going Dutch” comes from and we couldn’t get any closure.
So tomorrow we will hear from the most well respected university in the world – Oxford will be calling folks!

David Baddiel called us from South Africa and he played Stump the Show with the kids – and he was well and truly stumped. Tomorrow Christian will be talking to Frank Skinner after the two lads go to tonight’s semi-final between Germany and Spain. They’ll have another podcast up too, that you can download from 6am!

Tune in for that and I’m A Movie with Christian checking Richie’s score tallies very carefully to make sure the little man isn’t cheating again.
