Danielle Ward

Danielle Ward

Dave Gorman's co-host, Sundays from 10am.

Danielle is a multi award winning stand-up comedian and writer of sell-out Edinburgh Fringe plays ‘Take-A-Break Tales’ and ‘Psister Psycho’ as well as two critically acclaimed solo shows. Her stand-up has won her both a BBC New Comedy Award and Time Out Best Newcomer Award and prompted The Sunday Times to describe her quirky and original style as being like “…a Nick Cave album recited by a cheerful would-be Dorothy Parker.”

She is a regular panelist on Radio 4’s ‘The News Quiz’ and has appeared on ‘Mock the Week’ and BBC 4’s ‘Newswipe with Charlie Brooker’. On top of this, Danielle is considered one of the most exciting new writers in comedy and has written for many shows including Radio 4’s The Now Show and Lee Mack on Radio 2. She is currently developing both her own sketch show for television, as well as writing on BBC Three’s new puppet sitcom which airs in March 2010.

When not performing comedy, Danielle, along with Martin, hosts ‘Ward and White’s Karaoke Circus’, a live music karaoke night which has had phenomenal success with sell out shows at the Edinburgh Festival, The 100 Club and its regular home of The Albany in London.

Also a pretty fine bass player, she has released three albums with Cardiff indie band ‘The Loves’, who have played with The White Stripes, The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and The Cribs and feature on the new John Peel Box Set ‘Kat’s Karavan’.
