Jo is no stranger to winning awards, throughout her career she has been nominated for an amazing 27 awards and has won no less than 17. Her impressive awards cabinet beats the likes of Stephen Fry, Ricky Gervais and Jonathan Ross with an impressive four Sony Awards! She is also currently holding the title of Commercial Radio Presenters of the Year (Arquiva) and Best Breakfast Show in Europe (European Radio Awards).
Jo is best known as one half of Trent FM’s Jo and Twiggy but after ten years of presenting their hugely popular Breakfast Show together, Jo has decided it is time for them to split and for her to pursue her solo career.
Joanna started learning how the world of radio worked with her first job at York Hospital Radio. Before radio, Jo had a varied career which included cleaning baths at a guest house, working in a launderette near an army base and working in insurance. She then moved on to weekends at Stray FM in Harrogate and then a full time gig at Minster FM in York.
After doing the overnight shift for a year, and having a full time job at General Accident Life Assurance at the same time, a completely sleep-deprived Joanna was hailed as 'the hardest worker alive'.
Jo eventually landed a gig on the breakfast show of a local radio station where, obviously finding a more regular sleep pattern, she worked for three years and where she met her long-term Broadcast partner, Twiggy. But her professional relationship with her on-air partner in crime didn't begin until one year later.
It was another two years before the self-confessed Richard and Judy wannabes had the opportunity to move to Trent FM in Nottingham to take over their much loved Breakfast Show. In their 10th year at Nottingham's Trent FM the pair picked up a prestigious Silver Sony Award in the Best Music Breakfast category. Added to this was their NTL CRCA Award for Social Action Initiative after the 'Bridge of Bras' campaign.
In her spare time Joanna loves to party, going out drinking, clubbing and often seen shimmying to all the big concerts. Her loves include: Eastenders, Simon Cowell, The Royle Family and she's absolutely gagging to get on Deal Or No Deal, having already called up several thousand times.
