Allan Lake
From 4am Thursdays and Fridays, then Saturdays from 1am through the night
When people ask where the new radio talent is, Allan Lake is most certainly one of the names that answers that question. He has risen though the ranks of regional radio and landed himself a slot at one of the highest profile radio stations in the land – Absolute Radio. Not one to shy away from being himself and sharing his thoughts and sense of humour with the audience, he’s much more than just a new DJ.
Allan's radio career started at Isle of Wight Radio, working as the teaboy on the Saturday sports show and as producer for the station's veteran phone-in presenter Alex Dyke. This led to his own Saturday evening show, but he was let go by the station after broadcasting a controversial feature named ‘Bin Laden reads the Bible’. Absolute Radio loves the controversial!
He then moved to neighbouring station Power FM, before leaving the south coast for Hull to present Late Night Lake at Viking FM. From there he moved to Galaxy Manchester where he made national headlines after comments he made about Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus.
After a stint at Liverpool's Juice FM, he moved to London’s Capital Disney for an evening show named In On The Lake from January 2005 to August 2006. After his successful stint at Capital Disney, Allan was promoted to the breakfast show on sister digital station Core where he presented it until the station was closed as well as being a regular cover presenter on Capital 95.8!
After a short sting covered shows for Coast 96.3 in Bangor he joined Red Dragon FM where he was controversially fired and rehired, after getting listeners to call the programme controller to try and persuade him to hire him.
Allan continued to present his very popular evening show across South Wales until he was replaced due to the advent of networking more music shows.
Not one to keep his unique take on life off the radio for long, Allan was soon asked to cover shifts on XFM South Wales until it was closed down – which he had nothing to do with – then Oxford’s FM 107.9 and Invicta FM (replaced again by networking) and Nation Radio in Wales.
