Tony Hadley

Party legend, Tony Hadley makes a welcome return to radio in the form of our presenter for Party Classics on Friday and Saturday nights.

Tony’s best know for fronting the 80s band Spandau Ballet, releasing such songs as ‘Gold’, ‘True’ and ‘Through The Barricades’. The band performed on the Band Aid ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ single and for Live Aid at Wembley Stadium.

But Tony’s musical work has been extremely far-reaching and diverse. Ron Nevison (producer on Chicago’s ‘Chicago 19’ album) and Steve Lukather (Toto) were involved in his very first solo album 'The State of Play' recorded in Los Angeles in the early 1990s and Duran Duran's Simon le Bon sang backing vocals on Tony's version of 'Save a Prayer' on the album 'True Ballads'.

Tony has had the privilege of performing with orchestras across Europe and South America at events such as 'The Night of the Proms' and 'The British Rock Symphony'.

Together with his band, he's performed worldwide as well as for British Troops in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, the Falkland Islands and Northern Ireland. He is also involved with a number of charities: The Shooting Star Children's Hospice, the Victims of Crime Trust, Lowe Syndrome Trust and Medical Research.

Tony's contribution to the music industry was recognised in 2005 when The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters awarded him with a Gold Badge.

In January 2007, Tony made his West End debut as Billy Flynn in the musical ‘Chicago’.
