Pete Donaldson
On Absolute Radio
Arriving at Absolute Radio in May 2011, Pete was thrown in at the deep end at the Isle of Wight Festival, tackling the backstage band interviews with the headline acts after just three weeks at the station!
He's now a regular across our network and he counts himself lucky being able to indulge his passion for football on Rock'N'Roll Football with Ian Wright on Absolute Radio and his passion for 90s music on Absolute Radio 90s.
His daily show on Absolute Radio 90s, which is the UK's only 90s radio station, includes all the best music you remember from the decade and none of the duds, with core artists including Oasis, Blur, Portishead, REM, U2, Primal Scream, Guns n Roses, The Stone Roses, Pulp and The Chemical Brothers. Meanwhile on Saturday afternoons on Rock'N'Roll Football, listeners love his regular feature called Added Time – it's to football what Harry Hill's TV Burp is to television!
In August 2011 Pete embarked on his shiny new role as roving reporter at the summer's other music festivals for Absolute Radio. Pete was one of the first people to lay eyes on Alex Turner's new quiff and 'greaser' look at V Festival when he settled down in the Arctic Monkeys’ dressing room to catch up with the boys.
He also sat on KT Tunstall's sunglasses, which in her own words 'improved them', lounged around in the sunshine with Manic Street Preachers, and swapped festival stories with Johnny Borrell from Razorlight. Watch Pete's backstage V Festival interviews.
While studying graphic design at De Montfort University in Leicester, Pete spent a year working in a zoo and admits to not doing much work, instead he could be found hanging out in the gibbon house, which he says seems to have prepared him for the radio industry!
Pete cut his teeth doing work experience on The Lauren Laverne Breakfast Show on XFM in 2006 and quickly progressed from making tea to co-hosting the Alex Zane Breakfast Show on Saturday mornings. Within 2 years, Pete was flying solo, making his debut presenting Early Breakfast on the station from 2am-6am over the weekend.
'Cheeky Pete', as he's known to his mates, is a dedicated Newcastle fan and makes up one quarter of The Football Ramble, the hugely popular football podcast. Meanwhile Pete's Sunday Night Music Club is dedicated to finding some of the best new tracks around.

It's not just Absolute Radio listeners that have the pleasure of Pete's dulcet tones, you may well recognise his voice from ITV2 and DMAX, and he earned his music stripes fronting chart shows for The Box and 4Music.

A man of many talents, Pete has helped to judge the BAFTA Video Game Awards as he's quite the keen gamer and he loves a bit of Twitter!
