(307 views)I posted this on twitter t'other day (twitter.com/sarahchampion come follow me!) Food for thought for the 90's hour.... I'd probably have to go with the three that meant the most to me in that glorious decade of pound a pint nights down the union and snakebite and blacks!
So, they'd have to be:
Supergrass 'Alright' Absolute anthem for me and my 8 housemates who'd all group together on the dancefloor in that way that drunken groups do jumping up and down and singing our hearts out, we were young, we were running free! some of our teeth were nice and clean etc...
Cast 'Walkaway' Because when England went crashing out of Euro 96 I was stood in a pub in New Cross and will never forget the stunned silence that followed the montage of England as Cast played... Absolutely heartbreaking.
Pulp 'Common People' Another one from my penniless student daze. A group of us clubbed together to buy 'Different class' on CD. How we afforded the tickets to Wembley I forget but we did and it remains one of the best gigs I've ever been to..... and definitely the sweatiest.
I really struggled with this, I really wanted Oasis 'Live Forever' I really wanted Blur's 'Boys and Girls' and even 'Coffee and TV' but those are the three that mean the most to me for the reasons stated.
How about you? x
(1523 views)Pant wettingly exciting news this morning! I am and I quote...
'currently 211th in FHM's Sexiest Women In The World poll. That's ahead of Fearne Cotton (214th) but behind Kirsty Allsopp (209th) '
Sadly its not a fix and they judge it on actual votes so if you vote at www.fhm.com/girls/100-sexiest and we conspire between us not only could I make the top 100 as a radio DJ (absolutely unheard of!) but oh I dunno, Grotbags could be top ten as well!
Lets do it people xxx

Now as anyone who is wide awake at 3am will tell you, there's something about being up at that time that makes you feel like you're a member of a special kind of club.
Whether you're working the nightshift or feeding the baby there's a certain special feeling to knowing you're awake while it seems the rest of the world is sleeping....
I remember doing the breakfast show on local radio before I came to Absolute Radio and there'd always be an old fella walking his dog en route to the station around 5.30am, dragging this sorry looking hound behind him who clearly objected to being up and out at such a hideously early hour....
I'd always stop and say 'mornin' to that old fella who'd smile and nod in return because of that feeling, that feeling that no one else was up and we were the only ones wide awake. Me, the old fella, and the dog, members of a secret society....
So I'm thinking of starting a wide awake club - a what on earth are you doing up at this hour club. And everyone is welcome - from postal workers to new parents, if you're wide awake at the ungodly hours of 4 to 6 am then I'd love to hear from you!
Right, time for my afternoon nap. I know I've not started the early breakfast show yet but I'm just getting some practice in....

(1227 views)So I'm covering for Tim Lichfield this week, he's on holiday having a well earned rest so I'm living the life of a long distance truck driver. Up all night and asleep for most of the day. Reminds me of my student days...
Do love overnights though, think it comes from watching 'Midnight Caller' as a kid. Okay I'm not solving murders but theres something really rewarding about getting texts in the wee small hours, especially from fellow night workers. Its great to hear the tunes help those night shifts shift that bit quicker.
Will need all the sleep I can get to prepare for the onslaught of the V festival next week! All the festivals are good fun but V's the special one for me, first festival I ever went to and I'll never forget the butterflies in my stomach as I crossed that field in Chelmsford for the very first time, light headed with excitement and a couple of cans of white lightening...
We'll be bringing you all the best bits live across the weekend as they happen though, so if portaloos and big queues aren't your thing (and lets face it whose are they!?) you can still enjoy the best in live music from a truly great line up of acts.
Can't wait!
