The Rumble Strips

V Festival 2007

The dynamic Rumble Strips opened their lively set on the Virgin Union stage with their single, ‘Motorcycle’. The good-looking and charismatic lead singer; Charlie Waller’s Joey Ramone-esque note-perfect vocals punched the air to trumpet and sax ska accompaniment. The band performed as though they were having a party, a party which rapidly spilled out in to the crowd, the majority of whom began dancing along to The Rumble Strips’ own brand of soulful and energetic ska-pop. They performed to a backdrop of their logo – a cute and thoughtful detail created from cut-out paper letters strung together and hung over the curtain behind them. The performance was so good, when Waller announced they were playing their last song, the audience replied with a disappointed “boo”. The Rumble Strips are a fun and energetic live act, these guys are good – they’re talented musicians and entertaining performers - definitely one to keep an eye on.
