V Festival 2008
Vip session video
We have got a cracking video of The Pigeon Detectives set in our VIP tent at the Virgin Mobile V Festival 2008, as well as stage audio from their set. Sarah Champion also managed to catch up with them for a chat backstage.
Live review
Effervescent indie-pop delivery experts come in a multitude of forms, The Pigeon Detectives aren't quite identikit but their sound is certainly indicitative of the scene.
"This Is An Emergency" opened the 4Music stage with the band almost literally bounding on stage at sundown ready for the most anticipated set of the weekend so far. What followed was nothing short of a mass séance with the church of Chelmsford playing host to 30,000 crazed fanatics.
The religion palpable; bovver boy rock turned to darkness turned to "I'm Not Sorry", and we were transported through an extraordinarily set of showmanship in which every song ended in roaring applause from a crowd which could not possibly be waiting for The Prodigy who were to follow.
Like it or not, bands like The Pigeon Detectives are the voice of a generation. Proof: tonight.
