The Last Shadow Puppets

Introducing...

Let’s be frank here, The Last Shadow Puppets aren’t a new band as such, but they are making great new music.

The core members are Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane from The Rascals; the pair met while touring with their respective bands and quickly became firm friends.

After a few collaborations, the twosome amassed enough material for their first album, The Age of the Understatement.

They initially recorded the album together in France in August 2007, bringing in Owen Pallett in December 2007 to make orchestral arrangements. This then lead to the 22-piece London Metropolitan Orchestra appearing on the album, giving The Age of the Understatement its signature big sound.

The Age of the Understatement missed out on the 2008 Mercury Music Prize, which instead went to Elbow. However, no hard feelings – Alex and Miles had both said they wanted Elbow to win before the ceremony! In fact, the Puppets and Elbow have said they may even collaborate in the future.

According to Miles Kane, 2009 will bring a new album – we look forward to it.
