Isle Of Wight Festival 2007 - Performance review
The Fratellis don't keep you guessing where they're from. It's staring you in the face. Mince Fratelli's drumkit is decorated with a distinctive red and yellow flag, the amps at the back have 'nea danger scribbled on them in white paint and there 's also something looking suspiciously like a Celtic banner on the side, too. I think we can safely sat that Jon, Barry and Mince, aka The Fratellis are from Scotland. And they don't keep it a secret...
The Fratellis are also quick off the mark. Charging into 'Baby Fratelli' with a full brass section to boot, Glaswegians are on fire today.

So sure of themselves, even Mick Jagger doesn't get away without a light slagging off, meant in a lighthearted way, we're hoping!? Nothing much is said but the 'Who The Fuck Is Mick Jagger' printed on bassist Barry's tee sums it all up really: 'We don't care what anyone thinks, just shut up, listen and if you don't like it, that's your problem.' God, don't you just love 'em?
They have an attitude but if you have things like 'Flathead' (currently featured in the iPod tv ads), 'For The Girls','Henrietta' and 'Whistle For The Choir' under your musical belt, this is perfectly fine by us. A bit of attitude has never killed anyone as far as we know.
One last dig from singer Jon Fratelli goes like this (we should maybe mention at this point that the stage has now an extension running about eighty feet into the crowd - it's part of The Rolling Stones'set-up): "The stage is a bit of a joke, splitting everyone up. It' bad karma" and then it's on with what's left of their
Isle of Wight Festival 2007 show.
Closing with the only track they should ever really close any show with is an incredibly fierce, loud and bold performance of'Chelsea Dagger'. A quick 'Thanks' and off they go. Let's hope Mick and Keith aren't waiting backstage for them, ey?
