V Festival 2008 review
Shed Seven played on the 4music stage at the Virgin Mobile V Festival 2008.
It's day one, we are making our way down to the 4Music stage to ogle one of the 90s biggests indie legends. Forget the Olympics, here are five Yorkshiremen who are 'Going For Gold' today - Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, will you please give it up for Shed Seven!
True veterans of the V Festival, having played the first one in 1996, the Sheds split five years ago but they are back and judging from the crowd gathered here still very much wanted.
They're a little late on but when they finally make it, bell-bottom-wearing (we hear they are back in fashion) rake-thin-as-ever singer Rick Witter launches into Going For Gold. The fact that the right hand speaker isn't working properly isn't phasing anyone and when that kicks back in, we are in Shed Seven heaven.
Cue She Left Me On Friday, On Standby, Dolphin and a crowd-fave Disco Down. A classic at the end, the beautiful Chasing Rainbows and all is over in a flash.
We wonder what other blasts from the past this weekend may bring. Surely, nothing can top this top notch old-school Greatest Hits indie set now, right?
