Plain White T's

Introducing...

You must have heard Plain White T's. We were the first UK radio station to play their delightfully gentle breakthrough single, 'Hey There Delilah'. We thought that you might want to know a bit more about them though.

Their new single, not out in the UK 'til 3 September, was played by us, almost three weeks before it went to #1 in America and slowly but surely everyone else is cottoning on.

Taken from their fourth studio album, 'Every Second Counts', it's a beautiful slice of pop-punk heartbreak and is a certainty to break them into the mainstream on these shores as well. The single's sold over a million digital downloads already!

The band has been slogging their guts out for over a decade but this looks to be their big break. Hailing from Chicago, frontman Tom Higgenson was inspired by the local rock scene exploding with the success of Smashing Pumpkins and Veruca Salt.

After meeting a hero of his, Christian Lane of 90s buzz band Loud Lucy, he soon started writing and developing his own songs and formed a band with a bunch of school pals and began playing their pop-punk more regularly.

The fanbase inevitably grew as people across the US began to relate to Higgenson's honest, emotional lyrics and the affecting music of Plain White T's and after selling loads of their self-released debut, the rest of the industry started to take notice.

The new album, their first on major label Hollywood, has just been certified Gold in the US, having sold 500,000 copies and that is attributable in no small part to 'Hey There Delilah' and the great accompanying video which has become an Internet phenomenon.

Look out for a tour with Fall Out Boy in October, just after 'Every Second Counts' is released on 10 September.
