Introducing...
Despite being a newcomer to the playlist, Funeral For A Friend are about to release their third album in under four years.
Hailing from Bridgend in south Wales, the quintet gathered a massive underground following with their abrasive post-hardcore music but polished up their act for their debut album
'Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation' which was a Top 10 album upon release in October 2003.
They backed up and further built their success with visceral live shows and insightful lyrics that all their fans loved to sing back to them at their concerts. They've calmed down slightly now!
Signed to Atlantic Records, home also to
The Darkness and
Ghosts among others, they began to headline venues as big as Alexandra Palace, their debut album went gold in the UK and they graced the cover of the UK's biggest selling rock mag
Kerrang! three times.
Indeed, the won the Kerrang! Award for Best Newcomer in 2003 and then won Best British Band in 2005 after the release of their second album,
'Hours'. Many of the promotional dates had to be cancelled, however, as singer Matt Davies had severe laryngitis.
The latest album from Funeral For A Friend - completed by guitarists Kris Coombs-Roberts and Darran Smith, drummer Ryan Richards and bassist Gareth Davies -
'Tales Don't Tell Themselves' is a grander, classic rock album in the vein of the legends and the greats of yore.
