The Top 25 Songs as voted for by you
One of Britain's greatest ever singer/songwriters, David Bowie, turned 65 in January 2012 and after a glittering career spanning almost five decades, his early hits are proving just as popular today. Bowie's stunning track 'Life on Mars,' topped our poll of Absolute Radio and Absolute Classic Rock listeners.
The song, taken from his fourth album Hunky Dory, peaked at number three in the UK charts when it was released in 1973 and since then it has gone on to beat a huge list of other great tracks to win several polls to find the top 100 songs of all time. It's also been covered on countless occasions and re-entered the charts some thirty years later after it featured on the BBC's smash hit TV show of the same name, starring John Simm.
Absolute Classic Rock presenter Leona Graham says of the song,
'It's a timeless classic and the fact that it's made it to number one on our poll, almost forty years after it was unleashed to the world, proves that.’
