Jobs at Absolute Radio

We don't generally advertise vacant positions on this website, though you will find some positions advertised in relevant magazines - like:

As a comparatively small company (with around 90 employees), Absolute Radio doesn't often have positions available: when we do, many of our jobs are filled by people we've had in for work experience who we've liked and wanted to keep - including, for example, two of our music librarians, a few people in sales, and members of our IT and Digital Media staff.

If you are interested in an advertised vacancy at Absolute Radio, we'd be happy to hear from you. All job enquiries should be accompanied by a CV and a one page covering letter detailing why you want to work for Absolute Radio and why you think you'd be right for the job that we are recruiting for. All applications should be emailed to jobs@absoluteradio.co.uk or sent to the HR Department No 1 Golden Square London W1F 9DJ. We will be in touch as soon as we can.

Speculative Applications

We have a huge amount of speculative CV's and due to the size of our HR team we are really sorry but we can't respond to everyone individually. If you email jobs@absoluteradio.co.uk we'll review your details and keep them for 6 months if we think that we have jobs coming up that might match your skills and experience. Unfortunately we are not able to accept your application if you are unable to work in the UK in the long term.

As an employer we are committed to ensuring our recruitment and selection process are free from all types of discrimination.

Recruitment Agencies

We are a small HR team and therefore don't take cold calls from recruitment agencies for permanent, temporary or contract roles so please, please don't call us. We have a PSL (preferred supplier list) in place and have long standing relationships which we are happy with.

We appreciate that you have a job to do, however we will call you if we need your help filling a vacancy. If you want us to keep your details on file for when review our PSL then feel free to email them to jobs@absoluteradio.co.uk with details of the areas you recruit in.

Coming for an interview?

If you're successful enough to be coming for an interview, then you've already done what most people don't bother to do: research the station by visiting our website. Congratulations. We recommend that you listen to our station as much as possible between now and your interview date, so that you have a good knowledge of what we do, and how we operate. By sounding knowledgeable and confident about what we do, and how we do it, you're more likely to be working with us. Good luck!

How do I become a presenter?

These vacancies occur very infrequently, and when they do, only people with a large amount of broadcasting experience will be considered. If you want to become a radio presenter, you're best starting at your local commercial radio station or hospital radio station to gain valuable experience.

But there's more to do in radio than be a DJ - The Radio Academy produced a CD, which they have placed
on their website, containing lots of interesting stuff. Take a listen. That link also contains other information about student radio and other useful things to help you.

We also highly recommend Presenting on TV and Radio by Janet Trewin. This book contains interviews with Absolute Radio's Leona Graham and Andrew Bailey, and covers all kinds of presenting jobs - from hard news to DJing and children's programmes.
