Peering
Absolute Radio UK Access Network
Absolute Radio is a national UK radio station based in London. We were the first radio station in Europe to launch a live internet stream, and the first commercial broadcaster in Britain to join the London Internet Exchange (LINX). Thousands of people listen to our radio services via the internet, and many of them may be people connected to your network. We aim to get our content to as many people as possible, at as high a quality as possible, and as efficiently as possible.
Absolute Radio, therefore, operates an open peering policy, subject to you meeting the following requirements:
- We require you to be able to respond to issues by email or telephone 24/7, ideally through a staffed operations centre.
- We do not require a formal peering agreement, but we will sign one, subject to negotiation, if you require it.
- We do not require BGP sessions to be configured with MD5 passwords, although we will implement them if requested.
Note, also, that we operate 'hot potato' routing, and do not necessarily honour MEDs.
If you would like to peer with us, please email peering@timlradio.co.uk, or call our Service Desk on +44 845 356 1111, and select option 2.
To contact our Technical Operations Centre (in case of routing problems and outages, etc.), please email toc@timlradio.co.uk, or call our Service Desk on +44 845 356 1111, and select option 2.
We operate one Autonomous System, AS34763, announcing AS-VIRGINRADIO.
Our routing policies are registered at
RIPE. We have a public Looking Glass server at
lg.absoluteradio.co.uk.

Where the quantity of data justifies it we may ask to move to private peering.
We are also developing multicast versions of our streams, and are therefore keen to peer with multicast-enabled ISPs. We are currently members of the following multicast-enabled exchanges:
