Ben Jones chatted to Nick Wire from Manic Street Preachers on Sunday Night Live.

They chatted about the Manics' appearance at the 2008 NME Awards, where the band will pick up the Godlike Genius Awards as well as their cover of Rihanna's smash hit #1 single, 'Umbrella'. As per usual, Wire gets rather political as well, talking about Cuba and Fidel Castro's resignation.

Manic Street Preachers were at the NME Awards to pick up their Godlike Genius award and took the time out to speak to Tania Snuggs from the News Team on the red carpet.

Both bassist Nicky Wire and singer James Dean Bradfield talk to Tania about how they reached the level that they have done and how they built it all over the last 20 years whilst also revealing the secret to their success.

V Festival Review

This lot aren't new to performing, and you'd realise it just by watching them. Total professionals who stay rooted to their spots on the stage, they're more about just playing great music than making a big show and dance, and it's going down well with the crowd.

With the sun setting over the Chemlsford Channel 4 stage and the red lights gradually getting turned up, the crowd take on a contagious chilled out atmopshere. Occasionally sharing a cheer when a hit song comes up, most of them are content to nod their heads and mouth the words, because this set is more about appreciating what you're hearing than using up all your energy dancing to it.

And though James Dean Bradfield is politely giving an introduction before the start of every song, he"s surely being modest. Everyone already knows what's coming from just the first few bars. And speaking of Bradfield, here's a man who knows how to handle a guitar.

This is the kind of band we'd like to see more of round these parts. They're about pleasing the crowds and leaving the partying to us! It sounds like the perfect band to see on a suinday evening, and a great way to spent one of the last hours of what's been a fantastic summer festival.
