It could be argued that there is absolutely no need for another Greatest Hits pacakage from Led Zeppelin.

It would be a good argument as well because they have already released numerous compilations, including a similarly tracklisted, two-volume affair just seven years ago.

Best Ofs, though, are not for true fans who already own all the albums and Mothership is no exception. Indeed, this release could put some longstanding fans' noses out of joint as they fear their favourite band is cashing in.

However, this reasonably-priced double-cd is a fantastic entry point for the Led Zeppelin newcomer and it's a stellar tracklisting that includes songs from all eight of their studio albums, handpicked by the remaining members.

Many will have already heard timeless tracks like 'Kashmir' and 'Whole Lotta Love' both sampled in modern tracks and on the radio. Identifying them as Led Zeppelin songs and appreciating the entire back catalogue in all its glory is made much easier with this.

There's not a single song of filler here, in fact I imagine Robert Plant et al toiled and struggled with the decisions of what songs to put on and which to leave off when it came to the tracklisting.

Once songs like 'Once The Levee Breaks' and 'Immigrant Song' get under your skin there's just no getting rid of them. You just want more and more. Luckily there's a whole back catalogue to pick up if you feel the desire.

Obviously, there is no way of understanding how amazing Led Zep were as a live band unless you're one of the lucky 20,000 who managed to get a ticket to the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Show but this goes a long way to gaining the enjoyment.

It's released just in time for Christmas as well. What a stocking filler! Check out the album right here.

Legendary rockers Led Zeppelin triumphed at what is probably the most eagerly anticipated comeback of all time last night.

18,000 fans were packed in to the gig at London's O2 arena last night to see their heroes play all the hits, including 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Whole Lotta Love' and 'Rock and Roll'.

The three surviving members were up on stage without of course John Bonham who died in 1980, but the veterans proved they've still got it despite nearly 20 years apart.

Bonham's son, Jason took the tubthumper's stool in his father's absence and filled in with a stellar performance, adding backing vocals to ‘Misty Mountain Hop’.

The likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and allegedly Sir Paul McCartney watching the storming set that lasted two and a quarter hours.

Speculation about a Led Zeppelin tour in 2008 has been rife all the way up to tonight's apparently one-off show in tribute to the late, great Ahmet Ertegun - the founder of Atlantic Records, to whom Led Zep were signed to in their heyday.

Despite this, there have been absolutely no cats let out of any bags. At least, not completely. The Cult's Ian Astbury hinted that they might be supported a band with 'L' and 'Z' in their name but who knows?

Maybe the late drummer, John Bonham's daughter, Zoe. We spoke to her and a whole host of people, stars and true fans alike, in attendance of this wonderful spectacle.

Richard Hammond talked about them making the best driving music ever, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl asked us a question and support act Paolo Nutini talked about his night.
