The wonderfully giving Likely Lads from Leicester, Kasabian strolled down to the Absolute Radio camper van to share a joke and a laugh with Geoff Lloyd at the 2010 V Festival. During said joke and laugh the lads intimate they arrived in Chelmsford in separate helicopters, and talk of their love for the former Mr Price, Peter Andre. They also chirp on about fatherhood, while predicting that it will be Chelsea or Manchester United for the Premier League title this year. Lovely stuff.

Tom and Chris from Kasabian came in to talk to Tania Snuggs about the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs and their involvement in the cause.

They also chat about Kasabian's new album and their excitement for its release...

"You know in Willy Wonka, when Augustus Gloop gets stuck in that pipe? It's gonna go bang like that!"

Kasabian have been longtime favourites of ours and it's great to see them playing so high up on the V Festival bill. Serge Pizzorno has already built this appearance up to be their biggest show ever so everyone's waiting with baited breath.

With their support for the Teenage Cancer Trust as well as their great up-to-date music, they've got both the skills and the attitude to excite everyone watching their set. The weathers cleared up but its not got that dark steamy festival atmosphere yet.

It's all a bit subdued though. While everyones clearly clearly having it Serge's wicked red and black trousers are the best bit so far. They match his equally wicked rickenbacker guitar as he makes his clothes live up to being the biggest thing so far in their career.

Tom Meighan has grown his hair but is still the snarling rock monster he always was. Processed beats sounds as good as ever and the crowd is loving it completely.

As the darkness slowly descends the stage lights become ever more powerful and Kasabian come into their own. The basslines become enormous and the band visibly grows In confidence. Its a great festival set and kasabian have done themselves proud.

Performance review from Isle of Wight 2007

The way the crowd is reacting to this lot, you'd think Kasabian were closing Saturday night at Isle of Wight. From the moment Tom steps in front of the mic and - with little introduction - breaks into Shoot The Runner, this perfectly average looking lad in trademark indie gear keeps the crowd moving. And wow, do they move.

Standing on tables in a nearby VIP area and bouncing up and down so vigourously that you can almost hear the ground creaking under the weight, the audience seem as enthusiastic about Reason Is Treason as the lively band are. And while the crowd are doing their appreciative thing, Tom, Sergio and Chris are busy kicking around the stage enjoying themselves. It's almost like they're there to have fun, and as far as they're concerned, everyone else can do whatever they like.

As they get to Cutt Off and the dark grey sky properly creeps in, the mood calms down and the sullen intro of the song quiets the shrieks and jumping. But once again, the beat picks up and the ground starts to shake.

Empire, naturally, causes the biggest eruption yet. Somehow everyone knows the words and seems to have 'dancing like mad' at the top of their To Do list. Though admittedly, it would be pretty fair to say that the band have surplus energy themselves, with extreme excitement about all the songs they're throwing out there.

The mix of electronica and indie-rock is still impressive and catchy, and when combined with the swagger of the band members and their unpretentious 'here for a laugh' attitude, it's no wonder the band has become so popular.

The bass slams to a climax with Doberman and the beat is incredible enough to increase the hype of the illuminated crowd - this is, simply put, good stuff. It's like Tom says just before he launches into Club Foot, 'Let me here you all... come on; we're big. Come on.' And he's definitely not wrong there.
