Tim Booth from James popped in to talk to Geoff Lloyd. Here's a little taste of what you can expect...

GL: I’ve always felt with you over the years, you’ve looked like such a goodie, but this beard has given you a whole different dark side, this baddie edge. Is that a deliberate thing?

TB: It is, yes. Yes, I think… yes, I always looked a little bit too cute for my own sense of well-being, you know, and I like the way I look now because I carry some of the shadow in my face.

GL: Yeah, there’s something sinister about it.

TB: Yeah.

GL: Is that when you’re wearing the Santa coat?

TB: It’s when I wear the Santa coat it gets really confusing. But its good for acting for me because it’s a clear… you know, I get cast in clear roles, you know, Judas, serial killers, that kind of thing.

James play V 2007

They may be most famous for their song 'Sit Down' but you can be sure that nobody at the main stage at V Festival is sitting down. It might be because the ground's a bit soggy but it's more to do with James.

After reforming earlier this year, this is the first experience of the band for many in attendance and they're all waiting for that song. James make everyone wait, of course.

The mercurial frontman is certainly more appreciated singing with James than he is playing psychotic villains in films like batman begins no matter how good a actor he is.

Decked out extravagantly in a black kilt and a t-shirt with a pair of boobies on the shiny headed tim booth has a lovely moustache nesting on his upper lip as well. Good facial hair is always appreciated here.

Booth pays tribute to Tony Wilson after threatening security with the task of keeping him out of the crowd. Wilson released James first record on factory records and sadly passed away a week ago. Its a heartfelt message.

When they finally do play 'Sit Down', it feels like a festival should do. Everyone's united and hugging and sitting down. It's a magical moment that will live on in the memories of all that saw this spectacle.

James came backstage to talk to Ben Jones at the Isle of Wight Festival 2008, check out the video interview below.

The upbeat sound of “Born Of Frustration” and “Waterfall” followed by “Tomorrow” (which received the biggest cheer of the day so far) got James’ audience up and dancing on their feet straight away.

Mid way through the set, James seemed to have lost the attention of their public as played a few of their down beat songs. But it wasn’t long before the charismatic Tim Booth won them over again with hits like “She’s A Star” and “Sometimes.”

James’ stay at IOW 2008 is finished off superbly by a stage full of festival goers singing along with the band to “Laid.” Excellent!
