Empire Of The Sun, name taken from the JG Ballard novel of the same name, are an Australian electronic duo. Grab your neon shades and pop a feather in your hair, these guys are pretty psychedelic.

In August 2008, they had mainstream success with their single Walking On A Dream. We tried to sum up the video, but failed miserably. Ok, we’ll try. It features confetti, fireworks, some convention-defying avant-garde costumes and it was filmed in Shanghai. We'd be lying if we said it was understated.

Much like MGMT, Empire Of The Sun use synths galore to immerse you in a spacey wonderworld, overlaid with enigmatic, cooing vocals. And of course, a thumping bassline to shake your disco thang to.

Think they aren’t sounding like your cuppa char? Give them a go, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Their album Walking On A Dream gets its UK release in February 2009.
