It seems to be the day for threesomes at the Isle of Wight Festival. Well, musically, of course although we're not even asking you what you lot got up to in your campsites last night!

Aussie trio Wolfmother preceeded Belfast boys Ash and then of course, we have Devon three-piece Muse to look forward to. Three bands, three members in each of them and three times serious rock 'n' roll. There you go, but let's move on. This is all about Ash and Ash alone.

These boys don't mess around. The sound guy hasn't even turned off the music yet and they are all at their respective positions. Tim Wheeler at the front on vocals and guitar, to his left Mark Hamilton on bass guitar and tucked away behind and a little above, drummer Rick McMurray wearing a classic Bogart-style Panama hat. Nice.

It's time to let the serious Irish rock 'n' roll, erm, rock 'n' roll. 'Burn Baby Burn' needs no introduction and neither do many of the other tracks Ash rip into during the show. The set list reads like a Greatest Hits album apart from the fact that an hour, which is exactly what they have to give it all, is not enough.
